Welcome to Directorate Of Culture Introduction of directorate of culture Culture is considered an agent for social and behavioral changes and a dynamic  for the development of indigenous wisdom and creativity. It is the only tool through which we can bring harmony in the collective thoughts of the people of the a society, as Art and Culture can block the entrance of the destructive activities and pave way for the innovation and peace. Nature has gifted this region with a rich cultural potential, owing to it’s geographical set up, Climate, natural and cultural resources. It has been a confluence of different civilizations which flourished and vanished with the passage of time. Since that time the continuation of cultural practices and the interaction and co-existence of various races have given birth to a unique life style that can be traced in their thousands years old folklore. The life style of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a long history contributed by various ethnic groups in thousands of years through human experiences. It has a unique characteristic due to a variety of diversified Cultures. Thus, it was the need of the day to safeguard and preserve the indigenous cultures of the region, explore diverse cultural manifestations through all possible ways and means and to show the real face of the Province to the world through this very significant way, so as to provide not only a sense of pride to the people of the region on their unparalleled life style but could pave the way for peace, innovations and creativity.                           The Directorate of culture was established in November 2008 which provides equal opportunities to all the people of the province beyond racial discrimination to avail their cultural rights, including minorities. Since it’s establishment, the Directorate of Culture has been struggling to arrange various Cultural Programs such as theater plays, Music Concerts, literary Circles, painting exhibition and cultural Festivals across the Province.     Functions of Directorate of Culture. To control, promote and develop cultural activities in the province.         To promote the formation of cultural organizations at District and Divisional levels and to ensure that these    organizations functions are effective for the promotion and development of cultural activities. To develop and coordinate inter divisional cultural activities. To lay down the general policy for the development of cultural activities, particularly with regard to proportion of expenditure to be incurred on cultural activities and administration. To perform any other function in the field of arts and culture as may be entrusted to it by the Government. Do all such acts which may be conductive to the development and promotion of culture in the province.                 The Directorate has been working with devotion and passion to come up with the  expectation of the people of the province. Resultantly, efforts were made in the past few years and carried out more then 200 cultural events of various types in the nook and corner of the province NISHTAR HALL :-                         Nishtar Hall as it’s integral part is considered the hub of cultural activities in the province which remains open all time for the common people and Art lover to hold their cultural programs . LOWER FORMATION/REGIONAL OFFICES:- Although the directorate has no lower formation at grass roots level, however under an established mechanism, all the divisional governments of the province have been mandated to channelize the cultural policies/decisions of the directorate and to arrange and monitor cultural programs at grass roots level. Besides, Private Cultural Organizations, Arts councils, individuals etc are technically and financially supported for conducting various Cultural Programs in their respective areas.
